Active Northumberland

Two long established Northumberland based leisure charities, Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure (BVAL) and North Country Leisure (NCL), have been working in partnership for several years to improve services and have now developed their partnership more formally.  A new joint charity, “Active Northumberland” has been set up between both organisations to manage and develop leisure services in North, West and South East Northumberland on behalf of Northumberland County Council.

North of Tyne Winter Warmth Partnership
The Warm Home Discount (WHD) scheme was introduced by Government through the Energy Act 2010 and will run for four years. Under the scheme, energy suppliers give vulnerable customers on low incomes a WHD rebate in place of rebates and social tariffs that were offered before. Customers already on social tariffs will be assessed to see if they qualify for the WHD. All electricity suppliers with more than 250,000 domestic customers need to pay a fixed rebate to eligible customers via their electricity bills. Smaller suppliers can also the scheme on a voluntary basis
