Blyth Valley Children’s Centres offers a range of opportunities to those who would like to volunteer. We have a system of support and training in place for volunteers so that anyone wishing to volunteer can be matched to a suitable role description and receive ongoing support and training from Children’s Centre staff while at the same time giving us some of your time to help support and maintain services. We have lots of role descriptions available including:

  • LTTP (Learning Together Through Play) volunteers who help out with our universal drop in sessions for families including messy play, songs and stories
  • Community kitchen garden volunteers – are you interested in gardening? You don’t need to be an expert just be willing to spare an hour a week to support the upkeep of our garden and enjoy the produce
  • Volunteers for events and activities in the centre and out at community venues
  • Breastfeeding peer support – if you have breastfed your own children and would like training and support to help other Mums to do this we have an excellent opportunity to train through a partnership with the NHS as a Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteer. For more information on this please contact Tracey Wilson on 01670 798800
  •  We have lots of roles available and we are looking at developing new ones so it’s always worth chatting to us to see if we have something that may be right for you. Volunteering has benefits such as:

    • Increases your confidence and self esteem
    • Gives you vital experience of being in the working environment
    • Gives you training that you can add to a CV
    • Meet new people, share experiences and gain friends
    • Have fun!
    • Contribute to your local Children's Centre and community

For more information about our volunteer scheme please contact Gemma Gowland on 0191 2375184
